Warning it's the One eyed one horn purple puppy eater!!

Sage here.

Another weekend gone.  Even though it started out as a rainy weekend we kept busy.  But I'm a little confused with Ron.  All week he gets up a little after five in the morning.  So Saturday he was over sleeping so I got him up.  He just did not seem to happy about this.  Humans you just can't figure them out.  It's like the other day I found this great stick and brought it into the house.  Ron found it and tossed it back outside.  I thought maybe he made a mistake so next time out I brought it back in.  He tossed it out again.  Humans do things the hard way.  Have you ever seen two humans meet.  They shake hands and could end up talking for hours.  Two dogs meet and with one quick butt sniff we got all the information we need.  If a dog needs to leave a message one squirt on the tree will handle it.  Humans have to send out Memo's.  I heard last week where Ron works there was a memo about a persons purple underwear.  That would be more information than I need to know.  Somehow I bet the stalker was involved with it.  Another thing humans do that I don't understand is the grass outside.  They pay someone to put chemicals on it to make it grow.  They spend a fortune on watering the grass.  Then they keep cutting it down.  Every week he cuts the grass.  If he doesn't want it taller stop feeding it and watering it!  Humans can say some strange things.  I heard Ron talking to Rick next door and he said when I'm six months old I have to be fixed.  Funny I didn't think I was broke.  Like I said humans can say some very strange things.  Time to go!
Till next time

Sage here!

We had a nice night tonight.  Ron has a cabinet in the kitchen that was missing the drawer.  The front of the drawer was just attached to the cabinet to make it look like the drawer  was still there.  So we spent the evening in the garage while Ron made a new drawer.  Of course I supervised.  It worked out nice so now we have a place to store my treats instead of keeping them on top of the cabinet all the time.   Above is a picture of me inspecting Ron's work.  Now I just wanted to end with a few new things I have learned.
1.  Six hours of puppy class dose not get you a Doctrine, not even a masters degree. Who knew?
2.  Don't look down when running with a Frisbee in your mouth.
3.  Don't set your slobbery bone down in the grass right after the grass has been cut.
4.  If a human is pointing a squirt bottle at you don't sniff it.  He going to lose a couple of socks for that one.
Got to go now.
Till next time!

Hi Guys!

We have a graduate in our ranks.  Yes the big day has arrived!  Sage graduated from puppy class.  She had final exams tonight.  And I'm happy to say she passed them all.  And not once did she get sent to the office.  She received a certificate, a card and tassel for graduation.  Plus had her picture taken with me and her certificate.  So now she thinks she should be called Dr. Sage.  I figured we won't bust her bubble just yet.  On our way home we stopped by the lake and walked by the dam.  Sage liked watching the ducks swim by and watching all the people.  Now she in the living room watching Jeopardy.   She wants to play scrabble later but I don't think so.  She cheats!  She keeps eating the letter she dosn't like.  Oh well time for me to go.

Sage here.
We have had a nice night tonight.  Ron came home a little early and we spent a lot of time out in the yard.  We played Frisbee for a long time.  I can’t seem to get the hang of throwing it so I just run it back to him.  Ron worked on the totem pole he is making and it’s coming along pretty good.  This one is going to be a baseball player with a bat in it’s mouth.  This is the second one Ron has attempted.  The first one now sits in the back yard and is just a face with a big mouth.  A dog a few weeks ago was running arround in our yard playing catch me if you can with his human.  Well this dog walked around the tottem pole and when he saw it's face he jumped about a foot off the ground.  I have to admit it was pretty funny
Mike came over to visit and installed more memory in the lab top.  Wow it’s running great now.  So two paws up for Mike!  And by the way yes I’m feeling much better now.  Ron has been out side checking out my poop again.  He says it’s much better now.  He really needs to get a hobby.  I never seen someone so interested in poop.  Well as the saying goes " poop happens."  That’s all I have for tonight!
So till next time!

This past weekend was not a good one for Sage.  She must of ate something that did not set well with her. This is not too surprising since she will pretty much eat anything..  I will have to give her credit.  She would let me know when she had to go so we had no accidents inside the house.  She would even wake me up to go outside during the night.  So Sage is on a cottage cheese diet for right now.  She is doing much better now.  We both a looking forward to a better nights sleep tonight.  The past two nights we have been getting up every couple hours.   But for a four month old puppy she did  extremely well.
One other problem we have is seeing Sage at night.  We would go for a walk at night and when we were in some very dark areas you cant see Sage.  Even when she is out in the yard she is hard to see.  So last night I put a glow ring around her neck before we went for a walk.  The picture above is what you would see when she was in the dark areas.  It is funny to just see the glow ring  floating around the yard.  Hey what ever works.

See you later!

Sage here!

I heard someone say that dog is a mans best friend.  I’ll go along with that. Well we know it’s not a cat.  Not that I’m going to start bad mouthing cats.  It’s not their fault they are cats.  Oh by the way.  What do you call a cat that swallowed a duck?  A duck filled fatty puss!  Ok back to mans best friend.  Milan Kundera said "Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace."  Milan sounds like a very intelligent human.  Did you know that there is evidence that man and dog were together in North America as far back as 10,000 years ago.  And not once have we asked you to clean our litter box.  And who is it that keeps getting that Timmy kid on TV out of the well.  Go on say it!  It’s a dog.  While I’m at it, lets see you tie eight cats to a sled and see how far you get.  All you get is eight ticked off cats.  I’m telling you there is a reason that when something goes real bad they call it a catastrophe. Ok well I’m sorry I  got my fur all ruffled. Let me leave you with this true story.  On 9/11 a computer technician Omar Eduardo Rivera was at his desk on the 71st floor of the World Trade Center north tower, his guide dog "Dorado" lying under the desk. Then the plane struck. It seemed impossible to get down the stairs, so Rivera unleashed "Dorado" so he could escape to freedom. The dog refused to go, but soon was swept up in the tide of people and disappeared down the stairwell. Rivera was constantly becoming disoriented without his dog. Several minutes later, Dorado had returned - fighting against the massive exodus - and spent the next hour guiding Rivera to safety. A very short time later the building collapsed.  Good thing Dorado was not a cat or the only place Eduardo would have been led to was the can opener.
Till next time!

Puppy Night

Hi everyone!

What a busy night!  I got home from work and had a little time to go outside and relax for about a half an hour.  Sage enjoys sitting in the sun working on her tan.  We both came in and had a little dinner before we had to go to puppy class.  Tonight there were two new dogs that were making up a class they missed.  This seemed to excite all the regular puppies in the class.  Sage was no exception.  She saw the other dogs and it was like PLAY TIME!  But once we got started she settled down and got to work.  We have to work on Sage laying down and staying.  That is our homework for this week.   I wonder if I can teach this one by example?  I’m good at laying down and staying put.  I can kill off a whole evening doing that.   After class Sage & I stopped by a friend of mine from work to visit.  Joe and I worked together on a truck when I worked for Bank One.  We would take care of all the branches in Porter County.  Joe is retired now but we enjoy getting together every once in a while just to shoot the breeze.  After visiting for about an hour Sage & I headed for home.  We got home just in time for Sage to see Daisy for a little while.  No one has been home all day at Daisy’s so she had all sorts of energy.  Good luck getting her to settle down.  Well that’s been our night.  Talk to you soon!

Sage here!
As Ron said we had a very busy weekend.  So busy Ron forgot to buy my food so I had to go back to Puppy Chow again.  If there was any doubt about it there is no doubt now.  Puppy Chow and me are not a good combination.  Ron kicked me out of the bedroom again.  Yes I get a little gassy when I eat Puppy Chow but who’s fault was that.  I wasn’t the one who forgot to buy my food.  The way I see it he should have had to go sleep in the crate.  But he did not see it that way.  I see he picked up the right dog food for me today.  Gee I wonder why?  Anyway he did do a nice job on the walkway to the bike path.  I would of used dogwood for the lumber but that’s just my opinion.  I would of helped a little more but not having thumbs makes it hard to hold a hammer.  Last time I helped with a project I did all the measuring in dog measurements and the thing ended up 7 times longer than he wanted.  I went over next door to Ricks the other day and tried to help him paint.  But somehow I ended up with a blue nose so that was the end of that.  So I find it’s just better to supervise and a lot more fun.  Well that’s all for tonight.

Till next time!

Hi every one!

Sage & I have had a busy weekend.  Friday started out kind of slow.  I came home and was tired so we just lazed around the house.  Saturday I got up and went down to café 339 downtown Hobart.  It has very good breakfasts.  After ward I went over to Mikes and picked up some wood we had stored in his old garage.  Mike and I had the fun job of figuring out how to load 16 foot boards in a truck with a 6 foot bed.  But we did it and after visiting with Mike for a while I went home to begin work.  Sage came out to supervise as I started building a walkway over the ditch to get to the bike path.  The weather was just right for the work.  Not to hot and no bugs flying around biting you.  Sage enjoyed laying around the yard chewing on a bone and keeping an eye on me.  I built the walkway Saturday and had to put some sort of railings on it Sunday.  I think all the fresh air tuckered Sage out.  We went in about 8:00 and she slept the rest of the evening away.  Sunday We got up and moved some things around in the bedroom.  Sage’s bed was sitting in front of the dresser and was blocking the closet door from opening.  So we moved the dresser and put Sage’s bed where the dresser was.  Sage jumped right up on her bed to give it a try.  She gave it two paws up.  After wards I went out and cut some 2 by 4’s for posts and installed them on the walkway.  Then ran some rope along them for a nautical look and added some birdhouses for decoration.  Mom & Dad had given me the birdhouses that they had made years ago for craft fairs they use to go to.  So thanks Mom & Dad!   I think it came out very nice and makes it look a lot better out there.  Sage is a happy puppy tonight.  We went to KFC and picked up dinner.  I got a piece of roasted chicken and cut it up and added it to Sages dinner.  So she has a full tummy and is now taking a nap.  I think see has the right idea.
See you later.

Adopt a Human

Sage here.

I was asked why did I adopt a human.  Well when I saw him at the shelter he looked so helpless.  I knew I was going to have to go home with him and taker care of him.  Now he is getting exercise going for walks and chasing me around the house trying to get his sock away from me.  Humans are very forgiving.  He may be mad one moment because of a surprise I left him and the next moment he is scratching my ear.  And being a puppy it’s funny how you can make a full grown adult human talk like a babbling idiot.  All of a sudden they talk in a baby voice and say things “ where’s my puppy? Are you my good puppy? Yes you are my good puppy”.  I just give him a look like oh ya you lost it buddy.  Now you have to give them credit.  They are one heck of a good hunter / gatherer.  He leaves for a short time and comes back with enough food to last us a week.  Not only did he kill the food, but he cut it up and put it in little containers for storage.  I’m just glad we are on his side.  He also has a little box that he keeps winter in.  Yep that’s right!  Just open the box and its cold inside.  He stores some of our food in the winter box to keep it good.  He also has a ding box.  The ding box he puts our food in it and when it dings it makes the food hot!   The best thing is the big white water dish that automatically refills with water.  Some reason Ron doesn’t like me to use it.  But he can’t figure out how to use it.  It’s so funny he keeps sitting on it like he’s going to drink with his butt.  Humans are so silly at times.  But the best reason to adopt a human is the belly rubs.  Oh my it’s great!  I can just lay there and let him rub my belly all day. And that’s why I decided to adopt a human.  Maybe next time I can tell you about the box he has on the wall with a bunch of little tiny people acting out stories.
Till next time!

                                                          Who me!
Sage Here
We just got back from puppy class.  Ron can’t make up his mind what he wants.  First he wants me here then he wants me there.  Come, stay, sit!  Walk around the other dogs, now sit.  Lets go there, now come here.  He’s getting very demanding.  Hey as long as the treats keep coming I’m fine with it.  The instructor said everyone is doing great.  I think Ron has more work to do.  Rocko is getting bigger every week.  We got to play for a real short time before we started training are humans.  Rocko is having the same problem with his human.  They seem to get so bossy.   It must be a faze they are going through.  Sometimes I wonder who training who at these classes.
On another note Ron got me new dog food a while back.  All because he said I was stinking him out of the house.  Well I have to admit I was getting pretty gassy.  It was kind of fun to sneak in by Ron and let one go but sometimes it was so bad I had to leave the room.  Well Ron put me on a puppy food called Exclusive.  And all is much better.   I wonder if it would work on Ron.  Take it from me he could really use it.  Well time for me to go.
Till next time.

Vet Visit

Sage here!

I don’t want to hear any more about me biting Kacey’s butt.  Ron took me to the vet yesterday.  I no longer fit on the puppy scale so I stood on the big dog scale.  I weighed in at a whopping 21 pounds.  Then he put me on this table.  I thought this is strange,  I would get in trouble at home for this.  Any way this lady came in and put a treat on the table for me.  I thought what a nice lady and started to eat the treat.  That’s when BAM! She stuck me right in the butt with something!  So she gave me another treat to make up for it and while I was eating it she did it again!  It ended up she was giving me a booster shot and a rabies’ shot.  Ron said this is to keep me healthy.  I guess it’s all good but do they have anything for a soar butt?  Well any way the Lady kept saying I was sooooo cute.  So you can tell she was very intelligent.  She gave Ron some stuff for me to take today for something called heart-worms.  Also some stuff to keep fleas and ticks off me.  With the bike path and all the trees right in our yard, that’s a good idea.  She said I was healthy and with that Ron got to go give the lady at the desk a bunch of money.  He is always grumpy about it.  Hey he didn’t get poked it the butt.  Well I go to go.
Till next time!

Weekend Fun

Hi every one
Hope you all had a nice Easter.  Sage & I spent Saturday mostly in the yard.  I gave her a smoked cow bone and she loved it.  The whole time I was cutting the grass and doing yard work she was chewing on that bone.  Easter we slept in a little.  When we did finally get going Sage had her Easter dinner.  I added fat free gravy to her dog food and she just ate it up.  After her dinner and a walk Sage took a nap while I went to the Schultz’s for a very nice dinner.  They had so much food and it was all very good.  I got home and Sage and I were playing on the floor when Mike called and asked Sage & I to come over for some more food.  Mikes Mom made a bunch of potato salad and it was fantastic.  That and some ham was all I could eat.  Sage had a ball running around meeting all the people there.  She was very well behaved end even let us know she needed a potty break.  It was very lady like not to pee on the carpet.  By the time we got home we were both worn out.  Sage just collapsed right in the middle of the living room and went to sleep.  And that’s how our weekend went.  Hope you had a nice Easter!

Happy Easter

Sage here
Ron & I would like to wish a Happy Easter to everyone..  I hope the Easter Beagle was good to everyone.  Yes I said beagle.  It is time for the truth to come out.  Come on did you really think a bunny could do all that.  Please the only thing a rabbit would leave behind are little dark pellets on your floor.  And we all know how you humans are about that.  The Easter Beagle does go a long way to humor you as the picture above shows.  And here is a little hint.  Don’t eat the Yellow eggs!  It’s kind of like the yellow snow thing.  You may ask how does the Easter Beagle do all this.  Well all puppies are born with some magic powers.  You ever notice how a puppy can one moment be by your side and the next moment be in the bathroom with all your towels on the floor and the toilet paper all over the place.  That’s puppy magic.  The Easter Beagle never lost his puppy magic.  Oh another hint.  Keep the bathroom door closed Easter Eve.  He still likes to play with the toilet paper.  Anyways hope you all have a great Easter.
Till next time
Where did he hide those eggs?

Q & A

Hi Guys Ron & Sage here!

We thought we would answer some of the many questions we get.

Sage:  We got questions?  From who?

Ron: Our many readers.

Sage:  Oh Your Mom.

Ron:  Just go with me on this.  First question.  Sage are you potty trained?

Sage :  Wow getting personal right off the start.  Well I have always been able to go potty.  Well except for the night I ate the three cheese buretto, Ill never do that again.  But yes Ron has convinced me to go outside when duty calls.  Now Ron still goes inside the house and the smell

Ron: OK OK next question.  Sage are you a picky eater"

Ron:  LOL  LOL  LOL!!!!   Let me answer this one She will eat rocks!

Sage:  Well OK No I'm pretty flexible on what I eat.

Ron:  next question for Sage.  Sage do you know any tricks?

Sage:  Oh sure pick a card any card.  Just kidding!  Yes my favorite is called Squat!  I just squat in the living room and Ron comes running from where ever he is.  He learned that one real fast.

Ron:  OK next  Oh this one's for me.  Ron what do you do when Sage misbehaves?

Ron: I take away her Lab top.  She hates that.  She can't go on line and read her Snoopy cartoons.  Oh I did catch her with a Garfield cartoon on.  She turned it off and claimed it must of been a virus.

Ron:  This is for Sage.  Are you over the Stalker thing.

Sage : Yes,  It was really scary but now I heard she has turned her attention to stalking Alex from my puppy class.

Ron : Time for one more.  Sage Did you really try to bite Kacey in the butt?

Sage:   Oh yes! Someone had to get her going.  Kacey has the good life.  Sleep on Peggy's knee, poop and eat.  I was just trying to get her play.  We are really good friends and we flea-mail each other all the time.

Well time for us to go! Till next time!

Hi Guys
Just got back from puppy class.  Sage is doing pretty good but we still need to work on stay.  I tell her to stay and she gives me a look like why?  There is a St Bernard attending class.  As soon as the two see each other they try to get to each other.  The third dog is named Alex.  He is a tiny little thing and cute as can be.  All three dogs are doing very well.   Now during class Sage passed gas but we just looked at Rocko like he did it.  Hey it worked.  Sage had to pass a couple of test tonight.  First she had to prove she would not be aggressive when you take a toy from her.  No problem for her.  Then she had to show she could come when called from over ten feet away.  She passed both tests.  She also passed something else again but we blamed Rocko again.  Not much else going on tonight so I’ll keep it short.  Oh yah the picture above is of Alex.
See `you later!

Here's the Poop

Sage here!
I have say Ron is starting to worry me a little bit.  It all started when Ron collected my poop in a plastic container and had to show it off to the Vet.   A little odd I thought but to each it’s own.  But then I would see him out in the yard collecting my poop.  The man really needs to get a hobby or something.  He also gets way to excited and cheers me on when I try to go poop.  It’s hard to go when you have that kind of pressure on you.  You try it some time.  Then last weekend he is out in the back yard digging a hole.  Now if  I did that he would have a fit.  But anyway he worked hard digging that hole.  Then I see him putting the poop in the hole.  I don’t know if that his version of buried treasure or what.  But if he asks you to go on a treasure hunt SAY NO.  I once heard that some people will bury their valuables in the yard for safe keeping.  Well if that’s his valuables we going to have to get on food stamps.  The other thing I don’t understand is I work hard at spreading the poop all a round the yard.  Then he goes and picks it all up and then pays a guy to put fertilizer down.  That’s what I just did!  Oh well, humans are hard to figure out.
Till next time!

Monday, April 2, 2012

Hi Guys
Well as you all know the price of gas at the pump has been going up.  But here we seem to have an abundance of gas.  Last night I ended up moving Sage to the living room because she was stinking me out of the bedroom.  So today I did a little exploring on the Internet on what to do about it.  What I found was surprising.  The name brand puppy food I was feeding her was not real healthy for her.  You should check your dog food and make sure the first ingredients is not a filler.  It should be some type of meat, like chicken, lamb or beef.  The food I was giving her first ingredient was corn.  This is hard for the dog to digest and may be what causes her to have gas.  I am trying a food for large breed puppy's called Exclusive.  It's number one ingredient is chicken.  One sign it is working better is her stool should become much smaller and she should have less gas.  Lets hope it works! I was afraid the carbon monoxide detector was going to go off last night. This food is a little more expensive than what I was getting but is one of the less expensive   better quality foods.  So I will let you know how it all works out.
So tonight I got home and it was such a nice afternoon we went out and relaxed on the back bench swing. It was a nice, sunny 70 degree day.So after relaxing on the swing with an ice cream for a while we decited to come in for dinner.  I gave Sage a blend of her old dog food and her new food.  You don't want to just change the food because it may upset her stomach.  After dinner I decided to give Sage a bath. It will be the last time she takes a bath in the sink.  She just getting to big for that.  We both ended up soaking wet.  After drying her off Sage was all charged up.  She was running all over the house just having a great time.  At one point she was running so hard she ran into the wall with a thud. But it didn't slow her down.  But now she has settled down and is taking a nap.  So it is a good time for me to go relax and watch some TV.  So see you later>

Yard Work.

Sage here!
It’s been a nice weekend.  Ron & I went out for a couple of walks and I spent a lot of time out in the yard supervising the yard work Ron was doing. It was nice to relax after the big stalker scare.  Anyway I taught Ron a new trick.  I just raise my paw and touch his hand and he gives me a treat.  Sometimes he is so easy to train.  I have to say I enjoy it when Ron turns on the radio.  Some of my favorite songs are…. What’s labs got to do with it.  By Tina Turner.  The night the labs went out in Georgia.  I also like some songs by an old group called 3 Dog Night.  Ron was happy Sunday morning. We both got up at 6:00 for a potty break, but then we both went back to sleep until 8:00.  That’s when I decided he was sleeping the day away and it was time to get up and feed me.  You know having a human is a lot of work.  A new game we play is I hide my toys under the furniture and Ron has to find them.  If he is not fast enough I go and find one of his socks and chew a hole in it.  Well I’m going to go now.  I’m a little bit gassy so I think I’ll go lay down by Ron’s feet.  You know it’s the little things in life that makes it fun.
Till next time!
